What is an inline conveyor and what does it do?

An inline conveyor is a motorized moving tabletop that carries bottles, jars and packages from one step of a production line to the next, a lot like the moving belt at a grocery store checkout. Almost every bottle of shampoo, salad dressing, sauce or cleaning spray on a store shelf rode on a conveyor like this while it was being filled, capped and labeled. Here is how Cleveland Equipment's plastic tabletop inline conveyors work: (1) bottles are set on the belt or come off a filling machine, (2) the belt carries them forward at a speed you set with a dial, (3) side guide rails keep them lined up in a single row, (4) they pass by your capper, labeler, coder or inspection point, and (5) they arrive at the end of the line ready to pack. The conveyors come in 4.5, 7.5 and 12-inch belt widths and lengths from 4 to 20 feet.

Is there a machine that moves bottles from one machine to the next for you instead of carrying them by hand?

Yes. A plastic tabletop inline conveyor from Cleveland Equipment moves bottles from your filler to your capper, labeler and packing table for you, replacing carrying trays of bottles, sliding them along a table or handing them from person to person. You set the speed with a knob, up to 200 feet per minute, so bottles arrive at each machine at a steady pace instead of in bunches, and toolless guide rails keep them lined up and upright. Pick the 4.5-inch belt for single-file bottles and jars, the 7.5-inch belt for wider containers, or the 12-inch belt for wide containers, cases and packing areas, in lengths from 4 to 20 feet. They plug into a standard 115-volt outlet, and they are often the piece that turns separate machines into one connected packaging line.

What is a plastic tabletop conveyor?

A plastic tabletop conveyor moves containers on a flat plastic chain belt instead of a rubber belt. Cleveland Equipment's inline conveyors use a low-friction acetal (Delrin) tabletop plastic belt on a stainless steel frame, which lets bottles, jars and packages slide and accumulate smoothly as they move between packaging machines.

Which belt width do I need: 4.5, 7.5 or 12 inches?

Match the width to your container footprint and what the conveyor has to do. The 4.5-inch belt suits single-file bottles, jars and small containers. The 7.5-inch belt handles wider containers or gives extra room for guide rails. The 12-inch belt is for wide containers, cases and packed product, or for hand-pack and accumulation areas. If you're not sure, call Cleveland Equipment at 866-410-9628 with your container dimensions and we'll size it for you.

What lengths are available?

Standard conveyor lengths run from 4 feet up to 20 feet depending on the model, and other sizes are available upon request. The length you need is usually the distance between the two machines you're connecting, plus room for accumulation.

How fast does the conveyor run, and how much weight can it carry?

These inline conveyors run at variable speeds up to 200 ft/min, and the maximum weight capacity is 150 lbs per linear foot. Speed is set with a knob on the variable speed control, so you can match the pace of the machine feeding the conveyor.

What power does a plastic tabletop conveyor need?

The machine electrical requirement is 115 volts, 1 phase, 60 Hz, and 110 VAC electricity needs to be available near the electrical box. The drive is a Bodine DC gearmotor rated 3/8 HP, 83 RPM and 248 lb-in.

How high does the conveyor sit, and can I adjust it?

Floor-to-belt height is adjustable from 35 to 40 inches using the adjustable bases on the welded legs. Guide rails adjust too: rail height from 0 to 5 inches, and rail opening from the belt width to 5/8 inch wider than the belt, using toolless adjustable rail brackets.

Can this conveyor connect my filler, capper and labeler?

Yes. That's what it's built for. Transfer end plates handle container transitioning between machines, so containers move from one conveyor or machine to the next without tipping. A side transfer plate for conveyor-to-conveyor transfer is available as an option.

Is the conveyor washdown rated and safe for food plants?

The frame is stainless steel and the belt is low-friction acetal plastic, and the machine is made in the USA with 100% UL certified components. A washdown motor and speed control is available as an option. Do not spray water onto the motor, speed control, flange bearing or electrical connections. Keeping the conveyor clean is essential to proper operation and sanitation guidelines.

How do I clean a stainless steel conveyor?

Clean stainless surfaces with a soft cloth and a mild detergent intended for use with stainless steel, flush with clean water or wipe down with a clean wet cloth, then wipe dry to avoid streaking and spotting. Chlorinated detergents and sanitizing agents will damage stainless steel unless thoroughly flushed or wiped away. Check cleaning solutions for pH: any value below 4.5 or above 9.0 will damage the stainless steel and plastic parts. During work periods, keep the conveyor relatively clean of accumulated debris.

Why is my conveyor belt squealing or not running smoothly?

A squeal usually means the slider pan surface is dirty, so clean it. If the belt doesn't run smoothly, check for excessive slack in the belt or the drive chain and remove it, and look for an object under the belt. If the motor runs but the belt doesn't, check for a loose set screw on the drive pulley, check the gear box oil, and check the set screws through the bearing to the drive shaft. If the belt doesn't move at all, the speed control knob may be loose.

Details

Machine comes with a 1 year limited part warranty and tech support.

This 7.5-inch plastic tabletop inline conveyor provides a wider, stable conveying surface for bottles, jars, cans and containers moving between filling, capping, labeling, coding, inspection and packing stations. Its low-friction acetal plastic belt and variable-speed control help maintain smooth, controlled product flow across an automated packaging line.

A stainless steel frame and welded dual-post base support lighter and heavier production loads. Toolless guide-rail brackets make container changeovers faster, adjustable leveling pads help stabilize the conveyor, and transfer end plates support smooth transitions at the infeed and discharge.

Packaging-Line Applications

The 7.5-inch belt offers more support for wider containers while keeping products aligned between liquid fillers, cappers, labelers, coders, inspection points, accumulation tables and hand-packing stations. Operators can adjust the rails without tools and tune conveyor speed to control spacing and reduce backups.

Setup and Care

Install the conveyor on a firm, level surface and adjust the welded-leg bases until the machine is stable. Set the guide rails for the container being conveyed and verify the required voltage before connecting power. During cleaning, do not spray water on the motor, speed control, flange bearings or electrical connections. Disconnect and lock out power before service or adjustment.

Available options referenced in the manual: hand-pack station, dual guide rails, 4-inch stainless steel guide rail, alternate belt styles, side-transfer plate, washdown motor and speed control, explosion-resistant motor and speed control, and locking casters.
